Taos Bus Trip - March 2004
Dallas Sierra Club
The Dallas Group of the Sierra Club annual bus trip to Taos, NM was a huge success this year. For a variety of reasons, the Club decided to move the bus trip from our usual Valentines weekend time slot in February to a month later in March. We were rewarded with beautiful warm weather. Although the snow was melting fast, everyone had a great time.
This year the bus broke up into four groups. The first group spent two glorious days skiing at the Taos Ski Valley. The second group spent two days snowshoeing in the mountains. On the first day, they went to Williams Lake and on the second day they hiked to Bull-of-the-Woods Pasture. At night we stayed at the El Pueblo Lodge in Taos. The third group snowshoed up to Bull-of-the-Woods Pasture and stayed in a yurt. And, last but not least, our fourth group climbed Wheeler Peak, the tallest mountain in New Mexico. For the first time since the Dallas Sierra Club has been going to Taos, everyone in the fourth group made it to the summit.
